Born in Barcelona but brought up in Galicia, he moved back to Barcelona in 2002, where he studied Fashion Design Felicidad Duce.

After a brief working period as part of Mango's design team. Manuel Bolaño decided to start working on his own collection.

In 2007 he was awarded the Barcelona Bread & Butter prize for the best collection of his own graduation class; he took part in Murcia's open catwalk and again awarded with several prizes at Madrid's Young Creators contest; at the Festival Noovo of Santiago de Compostela and singled out to take part in Proyecte Bresol, a fashion proyect launched by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Autonomous Goverment of Catalonia). His first collection "Viudas" (Widows) was shown in parade at the Barcelona 080 Catwalk on September 2008.
In March 2009, his collection "Peliqueiros" was shown at the Barcelona 080 Catwalk and is also exhibited al the Rendez Vous Femme in Paris.In September 2009, his collection "Canela en Rama" (Cinnamon Bark), was shown at the Brcelona 080 Catwalk. In February 2010, his collection "¿Por que todo ha de ser color de rosa?" was shown at the Barcelona 080 Catwalk.
